Disagree Curiously.

Disagree Curiously.

The Institute for Multipartisan Education is dedicated to sustainably increasing and improving capacity for curious approaches to difference and disagreement in educational settings.

Mission Statement

The Institute for Multipartisan Education is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to improving capacity for curious approaches to disagreement in educational settings.

We believe that curiosity is the antidote to today’s polarized educational institutions, and that it is constrained by well-intentioned layers of protection from challenging ideas. With our collegiate Multipartisan Leaders Training Initiative (MLTI) fellowship, as well as middle and high school consulting, we are the only student-run, train-the-trainer organization working to reduce polarization and strengthen democracy.

Vision

PROBLEM

When it comes to ideas which challenge us, many either censor disagreement, or react emotionally, instead of engaging with curiosity toward the idea and respect toward the person. This failure to engage leads to poor academic outcomes, siloed communities, and a weaker democracy.

BELIEF

There are many reasons to engage with people and ideas you disagree with. There are multiple true narratives in every story. Disagreement is important when it is constructive, and cultivating curiosity will lead to more willingness to engage with difference, and to open-mindedness toward challenging ideas

VISION

We envision impassioned and constructive disagreement in dynamic campus discussions, where curiosity and open-mindedness thrive, and all participants are treated with dignity.
